Java program to separate even and odd numbers from an array
Java program to separate even and odd numbers from an array
In this tutorial, we will discuss the concept of the Java program to separate even and odd numbers from an array
In this post, we are going to learn how to separate the even and odd numbers from the given array.
First, we must understand how to identify odd or even number
What is Even or Odd
When the number is divided by 2 and the balance becomes zero, the above number is called as the even numbers – eg 2,4,6,8,10
and on the other sides when it is divided by 2 and balance becomes 1 they are called odd numbers or uneven numbers
In my previous post, I have explained the various approaches to check whether the number is even or odd in Java language
There are three examples given below
The procedure of this program
- initially, the user will enter the size of the array and store in the variable size to define the array size
- And declare an integer type array for stored elements.
- Then the user enters all the elements of the array according to the array size.
- After that, use a loop for iterating elements of the array.
- finally, the following two loops(for, while,do-while) separate even and odd number using the modular operator from the array.
Program 1
Separate even and odd numbers using for loop
The program allows the user to enter the size of the array and the array elements.
Then, it will separate the even and odd numbers from this array using for loop in Java
import java.util.Scanner; class EvenOddArray{ public static void main (String args[]){ Scanner scan=new Scanner(System.in); //create a scanner object for input System.out.print("Enter the array size :\n"); int size=scan.nextInt();//reads input from user for array size System.out.print("Enter the elements of the array :\n"); int arr[]=new int[size]; for(int i=0; i<arr.length; i++){ arr[i]=scan.nextInt(); }//reads input from user for array elements System.out.print("Even numbers are: \n"); for(int i=0; i<size; i++){ if(arr[i]%2==0){//separates even numbers System.out.println(arr[i]); } } System.out.print("Odd numbers are: \n"); for(int i=0; i<size; i++){ if(arr[i]%2==1){//separates odd numbers System.out.println(arr[i]); } } } }
When the above code is executed, it produces the following results
Enter the array size : 8 Enter the elements of the array : 46 93 18 97 47 62 36 55 Even numbers are: 46 18 62 36 Odd numbers are: 93 97 47 55
Program 2
Separate even and odd numbers using while loop
The program allows the user to enter the size of the array and the array elements.
Then, it will separate the even and odd numbers from this array using while loop in Java
import java.util.Scanner; class EvenOddArray1{ public static void main (String args[]){ Scanner scan=new Scanner(System.in); //create a scanner object for input System.out.print("Enter the array size :\n"); int size=scan.nextInt();//reads input from user for array size System.out.print("Enter the elements of the array :\n"); int arr[]=new int[size]; int i=0; while(i<size){ arr[i]=scan.nextInt();//reads input from user for array elements i++; } System.out.print("\nEven numbers are: \n"); i=0; while(i<size){ if(arr[i]%2==0){//separate even numbers System.out.println(arr[i]); } i++; } System.out.print("\nOdd numbers are: \n"); i=0; while(i<size){ if(arr[i]%2==1){//separate odd numbers System.out.println(arr[i]); } i++; } } }
When the above code is executed, it produces the following results
Enter the array size : 6 Enter the elements of the array: 48 71 17 66 32 57 Even numbers are: 48 66 32 Odd numbers are: 71 17 57
Program 3
Separate even and odd numbers using do while loop
The program allows the user to enter the size of the array and the array elements.
Then, it will separate the even and odd numbers from this array using the do-while loop in Java
import java.util.Scanner; class EvenOddArray2{ public static void main (String args[]){ Scanner scan=new Scanner(System.in); //create a scanner object for input System.out.print("Enter the array size :\n"); int size=scan.nextInt();//reads input from user for array size System.out.print("Enter the elements of the array :\n"); int arr[]=new int[size]; int i=0; do{ arr[i]=scan.nextInt();//reads input from user for array elements i++; }while(i<size) ; System.out.print("\nEven numbers are: \n"); i=0; do{ if(arr[i]%2==0){//Separate even numbers System.out.println(arr[i]); } i++; }while(i<size); System.out.print("\nOdd numbers are: \n"); i=0; do{ if(arr[i]%2==1){//Separate odd numbers System.out.println(arr[i]); } i++; }while(i<size); } }
When the above code is executed, it produces the following results
Enter the array size: 6 Enter the elements of the array: 123 234 345 456 567 678 Even numbers are: 234 456 678 Odd numbers are: 123 345 567
