Java exercise to calculate division of two floating point numbers
Java exercise to calculate division of two floating point numbers
In this tutorial, we will discuss the concept of Java exercise to calculate division of two floating point numbers
In this topic, we are going to learn how to divide two floating point numbers (One by another)in Java programming language
What is division
The division is a method of splitting a group of things into equal parts. The division is an arithmetic operation inverse of multiplication
It is one of the four basic operation of arithmetic calculation others being addition,subtraction,multiplication
The division of two natural numbers means it is the operation of calculating the number of times one number is contained within one another

Program to division of two floating point numbers
Program 1
In this program, the user initialize two floating point numbers using two float variables and then the program calculates the division of the given floating point numbers using division operator in Java language
//Divide two float numbers one by another public class DivisionFloat{ public static void main(String args[]){ double num1=125.25,num2=5.00; //Double variable declaration and initilaization double result=num1/num2;//calculate the division System.out.println("Division of "+num1+" and "+num2+" is:"+result); } }
When the above code is executed, it produces the following result
Division of 125.25 and 5.00 is: 25.05
Program to division of two floating point numbers – Entered by user
The program allows the user to enter two floating point numbers and then it calculates the division of the given numbers using the division operator in Java language
Program 2
import java.util.Scanner; public class DivisionFloat1{ public static void main(String args[]){ Scanner scan=new Scanner(System.in); //create a scanner instance for receives input // from the user - input from keyboard System.out.print("Enter the value to num1: "); float num1=scan.nextFloat(); //store the first input in num 1 System.out.print("Enter the value to num2: "); float num2=scan.nextFloat(); //store the second input in num 2 float result=num1/num2;//calculate the division System.out.println("Division of "+num1+" and "+num2+" is:"+result); //display result on the screen } }
When the above code is executed, it produces the following result
Enter the value to num1: 45.15 Enter the value to num2: 3.00 Division of 45.15 and 3.00 is: 15.05
