C program: Divide two numbers without using arithmetic operator

C program:Divide two numbers without using arithmetic operator

In this tutorial, we will discuss the concept of C program:Divide two numbers without using arithmetic operator

In this topic, we are going to learn how to divide two numbers without using Arithmetic operator in C programming language

In this tutorial, we will discuss the concept of C program:Divide two numbers without using arithmetic operator
Divide two numbers without arithmetic operator

What is division

The division is a method of splitting a group of things into equal parts. The division is an arithmetic operation inverse of multiplication

It is one of the four basic operation of arithmetic calculation others being addition,subtraction,multiplication

The division of two natural numbers means it is the operation of calculating the number of times one number is contained within one another

C exercise to Divide two numbers

Program to division of two numbers without using division operator

The program allows the user to enter two integer numbers and then it calculates the division of the given numbers without using the division operator in C language

Program 1

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>

int main()
{
    int num1,num2,result=0;//variable declaration
    // from the user - input from keyboard
    printf("Enter two number for input: ");
     scanf("%d %d",&num1,&num2);//Reading the input for num1 and num2
     while(num1>=num2) {
            num1=num1-num2;
     result++;
     }
     printf("Division is: %d",result);
     getch();
     return 0;
}

When the above code is executed, it produces the following result

Enter two numbers for input: 1500
30
Division is: 50

Program to division of two numbers  using Bitwise operator

The program allows the user to enter two integer numbers and then it calculates the division of the given numbers with using the Bitwise operator in C language

Program 2

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>

int main()
{
    int num1,num2,temp=1,result=0;
    printf("Enter two numbers \n");
    //Ask input from the user
    scanf("%d %d",&num1,&num2);
    //Reading the input from the user
    while(num2<=num1) {
num2<<=1;
temp<<=1;

}
while(temp>1)
{
    num2>>=1;
temp>>=1;
if(num1>=num2)
{
    num1-=num2;
     result+=temp;
}
}
printf("Division is: %d",result);
getch();
    return 0;
}

When the above code is executed, it produces the following result

Enter two numbers
56
7
Division is: 8
